Shah Marg - There’ll Always Be Stars in the Sky

If there is a pattern I have it is latching onto these.  These flimsy aluminum spoons tapping the floor.  I don’t necessarily realize as I’m ambling past them but they are what keep me going.  If I could choose a soundtrack to my fantasy life (the one that involves Tuaregs) this is what I would choose.

oh yea, you should probably pick this Desert EP up.

  2. Soft Machine - The Soft Weed Factor

I finally got around to digging through the old vinyl my dad set aside for me last year.    He had mostly put away the record player and those jazz-prog influenced groups that he grew up listening to by the time I was around.  It’s easy to wonder what life would be like if I was as curious then. This one is that dreamer.

    Monster Rally - Blame

Just when you think she is going to stop talking you realize that you find comfort in the complete lack of awareness the kid had when you asked about her new neighborhood. This is the wordless conversation you should’ve had in your head

    Oh and that loop.

That Beyond The Sea LP is out June 19th on Gold Robot

MV & EE - Sweet Sure Gone

there is something about the lingering sweetness that just glides into your consciousness and sits on the edges waiting for you to pay attention.  But you never do quite give it your all, and the moment passes you by.  I’m sure it was meant to be this way.

taken from the new MV & EE LP Space Homestead out today on Woodsist

they are also in town May 16th (tomorrow) at DC9

Here We Go Magic - Made To Be Old

Been listening to A Different Ship and it’s surprising how much space that is left for us to explore.  It is by far their most consistently produced record.  And though they’ve mostly quieted with the swirling guitar layers (see “Make Up Your Mind”), Peter Hale’s rhythms still keep your body moving slightly more than maybe it should be while Jenn Turner’s bass lines are always just what you needed.  While Mr. Temple’s voice is sweeter than ever.

This track is getting closer to me this morning.  It just creeps along and before long it has its feathered claws in your arm in a warm embrace.  Can’t wait to hear the new stuff live a week from now (5/14) at the Black Cat.

Here We Go Magic’s A Different Ship is available tomorrow through Secretly Canadian

    AU - OJ

listening to this I am immediately transported back to the opening sequence of Final Fantasy 7.  The anticipated burst of landing smack dab in the middle of a new world (albeit created by what are now crude looking 1s and 0s).  On it’s own this track from the Portland duo’s April 3rd release Both Lights is missing it’s tethers.  Or maybe we just do not see them yet.  Exciting
